Nobody Buys Laettner's Famous Shot Floor

Comcast-Spectactor, owners of the 76ers and Flyers, attempted to auction off the Philadelphia Spectrum's floor panels where Christian Laettner hit his famous buzzer beater over Kentucky in the 1992 NCAA Tournament East Regional final. However, the eBay auction failed to reach its pre-determined minimum and the bidding ended yesterday with no winner.

There were 9 panels of flooring up for sale that totaled a 24 x 12 section of the free throw line area. The starting price was $2,500 and a reserve price was set to ensure that the item went for an amount that was approved by Comcast-Spectactor. Only one bid was made and it was for the minimum amount so the auction closed yesterday with no winner.

I am surprised that a Duke booster didn't fork over the $2,500 for this historic piece of hardwood. It surely would look nice in a display case at the university's athletic department. Comcast-Spectactor should have included this video in their auction to remind buyers about the significance of the floor panel.
