Just in time for college football bowl season, TLC is on the hunt for the country's best tailgaters. The network has enlisted the self-proclaimed "Commissioner of Tailgating," Joe Cahn to host their new show "Tailgate Takedown."The six-part series premieres January 6 to coincide with the BCS National Championship and Cahn will explore a different college stadium and rivalry game each week where three competing teams of local tailgaters will face off against one another in a cooking competition.
As the teams prepare their signature grub, the Commissioner will meet other tailgaters to learn about local tailgate tradition and cooking. Celebrity judges will determine the winner based on taste, presentation and how functional the dishes are in a tailgate environment. The lucky winner will receive a cash prize and bragging rights.
So who is this Commissioner dude? Cahn has traveled over 500,000 miles to 123 colleges to explore the world of tailgating. After selling his business (the New Orleans School of Cooking) and house, Cahn bought a motor home and hit the road to explore tailgate parties. Now in his fourteenth season, he has visited hundreds of cities, seen thousands of fans and cooked over 320 pots of Jambalaya.
