NBA Lockout Coming?

With the NFL locked out at the moment, the NBA might not be far behind. A NY Daily News report today highlights how the league cancelling it's annual Las Vegas summer league and internship program forshadow a work stopage once the current CBA expires on June 30.

The Las Vegas summer league normally starts in early July, with 20 teams sending rookies and benchwarmers to compete over a 10-day league.

In addition, the NBA usually hires about 30 college students to participate in a 10-week internship program in the league's offices in New York and at the league's entertainment division in Secaucus, N.J.

The NY Daily News also reports that in preparation for a potetntial lockout, the NBA is not sending any teams abroad for training camp and did not schedule any preseason games in Europe for this fall.

Owners and players have not held formal negotiations since mid-February, but are expected to resume talks this month.
