As expected, the NBA named Bulls PG Derrick Rose the league's MVP, making him the youngest winner in history.
However, winning the MVP shouldn't come as a surprise to Rose since during a preseason press conference, he asked media "Why can't I be MVP?"
"The way I look at it within myself, why not? Why can't I be the MVP of the League? Why can't I be the best player in the League? I don't see why-why-why can't I do that? I think I work hard, I think I dedicate myself to the game and sacrifice a lot of things at a young age and I know if I continue to do good, what I can get out of it and if that's me going out or doing whatever, I'm willing to do it because I know in the long run, it's going to help me."
He definitely backed his words up on the court as he was the only player ranked in the league’s top ten in scoring (25 ppg) and assists (7.7 apg), leading the Bulls to their first 60 win season and No. 1 NBA Playoff seed since 1997-98.
Rose and the Bulls are down 1-0 to the Hawks in the Eastern Conference semifinals and face off tonight at 8pm ET on TNT.
