ESPN was the big winner at the fourth annual Sports Business Awards, held last night at the Marriott Marquis in N.Y. The network took home awards for Best in Sports Television, Best in Sports Media and Executive of the Year.In accepting the award for Executive of the Year, ESPN/ABC Sports President George Bodenheimer dedicated the award to the company’s 6,500 employees. “For ESPN and our culture, there is no I, only we,” he said.
Past and present ESPN employees will be front and center next week as a tell-all book, "Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of ESPN," hits stores.
The highly anticipated book details the personalities, drama, partying and legal issues behind ESPN's rise from a small-time cable network in 1979 to the world's most dominant sports news brand.
